Samba Fusion Code of Conduct & Participation Agreement
At Samba Fusion, we are committed to fostering a professional, welcoming, and respectful environment where every student can learn, perform, and grow with confidence. By enrolling in classes, rehearsals, workshops, or performances, students agree to uphold the following standards of conduct.
1. Respect for Fellow Students
All students are expected to treat one another with professionalism, courtesy, and respect.
This includes:
Treating all members of the school with dignity regardless of experience level.
Encouraging a positive and supportive learning environment.
Respecting personal boundaries and shared studio space.
Accepting corrections from instructors professionally.
2. Bullying, Gossip & Harassment
Bullying, harassment, intimidation, retaliation, or repeated negative behaviour toward another student or instructor will not be tolerated.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Gossip or repeated negative discussions intended to damage another student's reputation.
Spreading rumours or encouraging others to isolate or target another member.
Harassing behaviour in person, online, through text messages, email, or social media.
Threatening or intimidating behaviour.
Disruptive conduct that negatively impacts the learning environment.
Patterns of behaviour—not only isolated incidents—may be considered when evaluating whether this policy has been violated.
3. Respect During Classes, Rehearsals & Performances
Every student has an equal right to receive instruction and participate in rehearsals without unnecessary disruption.
Students are expected to:
Arrive prepared and ready to learn.
Remain attentive while instructors are speaking.
Allow fellow students to receive corrections and instruction without interruption.
Follow rehearsal procedures and backstage instructions.
Treat all instructors, volunteers, performers, and production staff respectfully.
4. Professional Conduct
Dance is a physical activity, and accidental contact can occasionally occur during rehearsals and performances.
Students are expected to approach such situations professionally, report concerns promptly to the Director, and allow the Director to investigate and address incidents appropriately.
Students agree not to engage in public accusations, retaliation, harassment, or campaigns against fellow students arising from rehearsal or performance incidents while concerns are being reviewed.
5. Social Media & Public Representation
Students are ambassadors of Samba Fusion while participating in the program.
Constructive feedback or concerns should be brought directly to the Director so they can be addressed appropriately.
Students acknowledge that knowingly making false, misleading, defamatory, or intentionally damaging public statements about Samba Fusion, its instructors, or fellow students, or engaging in online conduct that materially harms the learning environment or reputation of the school, may result in restrictions on future class registrations, choreography opportunities, costume rentals, or performance participation.
Nothing in this policy is intended to prevent students from expressing lawful opinions or raising legitimate concerns in good faith.
6. Attendance Policy
Performance choreography requires consistent attendance.
Students who miss three (3) or more scheduled classes during a registered choreography session may, at the Director's discretion, be removed from the performance choreography.
Removal from choreography under this policy does not qualify for a refund of tuition or registration fees.
Exceptions may be considered in extraordinary circumstances at the Director's sole discretion.
7. Costume Rental Policy
Performance costumes remain the property of Samba Fusion.
Costume rentals are offered:
Subject to availability.
At the Director's discretion.
Without guarantee.
FULL samba costumes are rented currently at a rate of $50 per performance unless otherwise stated.
Students are responsible for returning costumes:
On time.
Clean.
In the same condition in which they were received, allowing for normal wear.
Failure to return costumes, or returning costumes with avoidable damage, may result in repair or replacement charges and/or suspension of future costume rental privileges.
8. Director's Discretion
The Director reserves the right to refuse future registration, choreography participation, costume rental privileges, or performance opportunities where a student's conduct is determined to be inconsistent with the values, safety, or professional standards of Samba Fusion.
The goal of these policies is not punishment, but to maintain a respectful, safe, and positive environment for everyone involved.
