The Session: This performance challenge program is built for samba dancers at an experienced-beginner or intermediate level. In this program, dancers will strengthen their fundamental skills, build their samba movement vocabulary, and improve their samba speed and freestyle abilities. Participants will exhibit their Samba no Pe and performance skills in a new piece of choreography in a stunning costume that will both challenge them and enhance their samba training by putting it all on display for a Summer Recital performance in a gorgeous professional theatre for their friends and family to attend on Saturday, May 9th.

The entire performance package includes 6 hours of in-class instruction, and an additional hour of dress rehearsal and an additional open-studio day of practice time to make sure you are feeling your very best before you get on stage. Students may also get other opportunities to perform at various festivals and latin cultural events throughout July and August (TBD). While attendance for all performances is not required, it is always encouraged to take all performance opportunities!

Costume payments and performance fees are due by January 21st

Performance fees go towards coordinating your performance, ordering and shipping your costume, extra rehearsal time, and hiring a professional photographer for the performance. Performance participants have the option to RENT or BUY their performance costume.

Costumes: a fringed sling-bodysuit in a unique colour for each dancer, and a rhinestoned bra*
-Costumes can be purchased using a payment plan
-Costumes do not need to be purchased right away, but must have a deposit paid before January 21st
-Costumes are selected by the choreographer and purchased by the student based on their own measurements and sizing choices at their own discretion.
*Dancers will need to supply their own nude bra, we will have a costume party to rhinestone the bras together as a team

Important Dates:
-Wednesday, April 22nd, 6-9pm: Mandatory session 1 extra practice, so students can get a refresh on session 1 choreographies before dress rehearsal

-Saturday, April 25th, time TBD: Open-studio, students may attend and utilize the space to practice their performance numbers with instructor guidance available

-Wednesday, May 6th, 6-9pm: Mandatory Dress Rehearsal + Show Run-through (in-studio)

-Saturday, May 9th: Show day, plan to be at the theatre (at the Dance Centre) in late morning/early afternoon until showtime
