The Session: This is the beginner-friendly samba class you’ve been waiting for! Whether you’ve been wanting to try to learn samba, or you want to build your confidence by giving yourself a new goal to achieve- this is the session for you. Participants will learn basic samba technique, styling, and vocabulary in a weekly-class format. Participants will exhibit their style and performance skills in a new piece of choreography that will both challenge them and enhance their samba training by putting it all on display for a Summer Recital performance in a gorgeous professional theatre for their friends and family to attend on Saturday, May 24th.

The entire performance package includes 6 hours of in-class instruction, and an additional hour of dress rehearsal and an additional open-studio day of practice time to make sure you are feeling your very best before you get on stage. Students may also get other opportunities to perform at various festivals and latin cultural events throughout July and August (TBD). While attendance for all performances is not required, it is always encouraged to take all performance opportunities!

Costumes will be ordered on April 10th. Performance confirmation must be received no later than April 9th if no payment has yet been made. 

Performance challenge participants can enrol in a second performance challenge for 50% off! This does not apply to the costume fees or the Advanced Samba program.

Performance fees go towards coordinating your performance, ordering and shipping your costume, extra rehearsal time, and hiring a professional photographer for the performance. Performance participants have the option to RENT or BUY their performance costume.

$99- performance fee + rental of your costume (to be returned at the end of the Summer)

Costumes:

-There are 2 sessions (Winter + Spring) going into this performance. The improvers’ costume will be the same for session 1 as it is for session 2. This means only one costume will need to be purchased if students choose to participate in both sessions.
-Costumes can be purchased using a payment plan
-Costumes do not need to be purchased right away, but must have a deposit paid before April 9th
-Costumes are selected by the choreographer and purchased by the student based on their own measurements and sizing choices at their own discretion.

Important Dates:
-Saturday, May 3rd: Open-studio, students may attend and utilize the space to practice their performance numbers with instructor guidance available

-Saturday, May 10th: Mandatory Dress Rehearsal + Show Run-through (in-studio)

-Saturday, May 24th: Show day!
