The Session:In this performance challenge program, the participants will experiment and perform a piece of Samba de Malandro choreography! Learn the Brazilian history and culture that influences the dance movements, and really immerse yourself in the Malandro character, movements, and musicality. While this is an open-level class, some prior samba experience is recommended. Participants will exhibit their style and performance skills in a new piece of choreography that will both challenge them and enhance their samba training by putting it all on display for a Winter Recital performance in a gorgeous professional theatre for their friends and family to attend on Sunday, November 2nd at the Dance Centre Theatre.

The entire performance package includes 6 hours of in-class instruction, and an additional hour of dress rehearsal and an additional open-studio day of practice time to make sure you are feeling your very best before you get on stage. Performing is not mandatory, but we urge all of our students to strive for the stage!

Investment:

Performance fees go towards coordinating your performance, ordering and shipping your costume, extra rehearsal time, and hiring a professional photographer for the performance. Performance participants have the option to RENT or BUY their performance costume. Performance fees are a one-time-per-show fee. Dancers taking one performance progressive or three performance progressives will only pay a single $50 fee.

$150 - 6-weeks of class + instruction (Does not include costume or performance)
$50 - one- time performance fee
$30 - costume fee- rental hat

Costumes:

-This session’s costume will be a “build your own costume” with the directive of: white pants, white button-up shirt, and white top beneath, and a rented white hat from Samba Fusion


Important Dates:
-Saturday, October 18th: no regular class
-Saturday, October 25th: Blocking rehearsal time TBD
-Wednesday, October 29th, 6-9pm: Mandatory Dress rehearsal
-Sunday, November 2nd: (mandatory tech rehearsal in the early afternoon, + show in the evening)
